The price growth for white cabbage in Poland supports the prices for this product on Ukrainian market

The specialists of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" inform that the rapid growth of the wholesale and retail prices for white cabbage is observed now in Poland. The price growth has equaled to more than 100% since the pervious week; this situation is quite untypical for Polish produce market.

We remind that Polish cabbage has started to be actively supplied to Ukrainian market after the beginning of the rapid price growth for white cabbage in Ukraine. Meanwhile the price for cabbage was the record low in Poland. This was one of the most important factors to restrain the cabbage prices in Ukraine in the previous weeks. However, the cabbage prices jumped up in the end of past week in Poland, so that many Ukrainian buyers had to refuse buying cabbage in Poland.

Ukrainian market meanwhile responded only by the insignificant price growth for white cabbage, which equaled to 5-10% per week. Cabbage costs now $0.36-0.4/kg in Kyiv, $0.28-0.32/kg in Lvov. The purchase price for this product is now around $0.2-0.22/kg in Poland; it is possible to buy cabbage for $0.2-0.28/kg on the wholesale market. To the experts' opinion, the price growth for white cabbage of the past year harvest is still possible in Ukraine. However, the price growth will hardly be very rapid, because warm weather favors the fast ripening early white cabbage. The price growth for "old" cabbage usually stops when early cabbage enters the market.
