Idared apples suffered more than other varieties from frosts in Poland

Polish orchardists inform ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" about the damage caused by frosts late April - early May: sweet cherry, strawberry, pear and plum were injured, and many apple orchards as well. According to the experts' evaluations, the apples of Idared varieties were lost more than others. The trees of this apple variety lost 70-90% of flowers in some regions, Polish specialists say. The damage was less significant, but still noticeable for other apple varieties.

It's worth to point out that apples of Idared variety are rather popular in Ukraine and Russia, that's why these countries have a significant part of Polish apples supplies. Any Polish specialists of the produce business do not dare to accurately forecast the apple production in a new season. Despite of this fact, it has been already clear that apple harvest is likely to be significantly lower in season 2007 than a year ago in Poland even if the losses evaluation is dramatically overestimated. We will inform the readers of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal about the production and price forecasts for apples in Poland in line with information updates; we will also inform you about the influence caused by the price changes to the price formation perspectives on apple market of Ukraine and Russia.
