Dramatic price drop for early vegetables and berries is expected in Ukraine this week

Hot weather has been observed on almost all territories of Ukraine since recently; it contributes to fast ripening of early vegetables and berries, so that the supplies of these products on market have been steadily growing. That's why this week we can expect early produce out of Odesa, Kherson, Zakarpattya and Zaporizhzhya oblasts, and also from such regions like Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kyrovograd oblasts. Also, approximately in a week the harvest of early vegetables and berries from the central regions of Ukraine will start entering the markets.

Since the previous week the prices for early vegetables have decreased in average 32%; the prices for greenhouse vegetables have dropped down 28%. The average prices for early potato declined the most abruptly on 36% during one week. The wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumber reduced 33%, for early cabbage - 26%. At the same time, greenhouse tomato has cheapened only 17% during one week. Early table beet entered the markets; in a week this product was sold 44% cheaper; however, the prices were still rather high.

This week, to the opinion of the analysts of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal", another price decline for early vegetables, berries and greenhouse produce will take place. The prices for strawberry will significantly decline; a rapid decrease of the prices for early cabbage will continue. To the experts' opinion, the rates of price decline will be higher this week comparing to the previous week.
