Ukraine: prices for strawberry and sweet cherry have declined twice for the recent 5 days

The supply of sweet cherry and strawberry of Ukrainian origin continues increasing on the wholesale markets of the country. This fact results in the dynamic price decrease for these products. Today the Wholesale Price Monitoring Specialists of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" inform that the sellers of these berries occupy around one half of the territory of "FARMER" wholesale market in Troyeschina residential area, Kyiv.

Despite of the traditionally rather good demand for these products, today the supply has obviously exceeded the demand. The sellers of the produce of medium quality complained that they had been able to sell too small volumes of sweet cherry and strawberry at night. In general, we have to mention that the quality of sweet cherry and strawberry was not high on the wholesale market of Kyiv. The sellers were ready to get only $0.8-1.2/kg for their produce. The high quality produce enjoyed greater demand; the sales of high-quality sweet cherries were mostly performed for the price $1.4-1.6/kg. It is worth mentioning that the wholesale prices for sweet cherry were approximately twice as low on the South of Ukraine than in Kyiv. Sweet cherry has cheapened almost twice since the beginning of the week in Kyiv.
