Prices for black and red currant grow in Poland

Polish producers inform that the prices for currant have been constantly increasing in the country despite of the peak of the harvesting season for this berry. ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly" informs that the processors tell the purchase prices to fluctuate within the limits $0.54-0.76/kg. At the same time, the processors are ready to buy black currant for $0.64-0.98/kg.

Despite of the dynamic price growth for this berry, the supply does not increase on market, because the currant yield has dramatically declined as a consequence of May frosts.

It's worth mentioning that the production of other berries and fruits will decline this season in Poland too: they are raspberry, sour and sweet cherry, blueberry and strawberry. The main reason is the same - May frosts. So, Polish export of flash-frozen berries may significantly decline this year.
