Tomatoes grow in price in Ukraine
Summarizing the results of the current week, the prices for tomatoes have increased more than 20% in Ukraine; as of today, tomato costs $0.8-0.9/kg. The producers mention the natural factor explaining the untypical for this period of time situation. The representatives of greenhouse complexes observe the dramatic decline of tomato harvesting because of hot weather. This week the harvesting of tomatoes in greenhouses has decreased more than twice, according to some data. Simultaneously the ripening of field tomatoes is delayed in the farms of the southern region: tomatoes are in the depressed state because of high temperature. One more factor stimulates tomato prices in Ukraine - it is a steadily high purchase activeness of the exporters. Even the noticeable price growth on the inner market has not discouraged them from buying Ukrainian tomato.
According to information of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly", Ukrainian tomatoes are sold for not less than $1-1.2/kg on the territory of Russia.
