Water-melon supply has rapidly increased on market -the prices are twice as low than in 2006

The specialists of CIS produce business periodical, ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" inform that the supply of watermelon has rapidly increased today on Ukrainian markets. In particular, the trucks with Kherson watermelons failed to find parking places on the territory of Kyiv produce wholesale FARMER market in Troyeshchina residential area. That's why the sellers had to trade water-melons right out of the trucks on the streets of this district. And, the supply was rather moderate in Friday.

It is interesting to point out that the wholesale price for watermelon has not changed much in Kyiv due to a rather great demand and despite of the rapid growth of this product supply. However, to the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", the prices will start declining in the coming days. Today the wholesale price for watermelon has already reduced $0.02 down to $0.1/kg on KOPANI wholesale market in Kherson. It is possible to buy watermelons $0.02/kg cheaper on terms of self-delivery out of field. The average price is still on the level of $0.18/kg in Kyiv.

"Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" informs that at the same period of time past year the average price for watermelon was twice as high sharp in Kherson, on the level of $0.2/kg. However, the price dramatically declined in August; watermelons were sold for $0.016-0.02/kg out of field. This year, according to the forecast of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", watermelon production will possibly stay on the past year level, so that the situation of the low prices 2007 may be expected to repeat.
