Vegetable production in Poland to grow 10% in 2007 - Central Statistics Department forecasts

According to the forecasts by GUS (Central Statistics Department of Poland) the general vegetable harvest will increase up to 4.8 mln. tons in 2007 in this country; it will be 10% greater than the harvest 2006. This information is provided by Ebronisze.pl.

Onion production growth will be the most rapid; it will reach 13%. Also, the producers expect to harvest around 667,000 tons of onion. The production growth is also forecasted for white mushroom, up to 1.3 mln. tons (+11%). To compare, the analysts of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecast onion production to somewhat decline down to 800-850,000 tons; the production of cabbage will stay unchanged on the level of 1.5 mln. of tons. According to the analysts of the periodical, the total vegetable production (excluding potato) will constitute 7.4 mln. of tons in Ukraine; it will be 10-12% lower than in 2006. Also, we'd like to point out that the forecast for Ukraine will be reconsidered downwards soon with a great share of probability.
