Carrot harvest to be record low in the recent five year in Ukraine

Carrot harvest to be record low in the recent five year in Ukraine

""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" decreased the forecast of carrot production in 2007 in Ukraine. The analysts of the weekly periodical explain the forecast reconsideration by complicated weather conditions (drought and hot weather) in many regions of the country. In April 2007 the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecasted the considerable decrease of carrot production as a result of the reduction of carrot cultivation areas. It its turn, acreage reduction was caused by low prices for carrot in the previous season as a result of this crop overproduction. The forecast of carrot production was decreased 5% comparing to April forecast. That's why, at the present moment carrot production is expected to be 28-32% lower than in 2006 in Ukraine. If the forecast comes true, Ukraine will gather the lowest carrot harvest in the recent five years. Most probably, Ukraine will have to import carrot to satisfy the needs of inner market in a new season.
