Cooperation with supermarkets brings additional advantages to seed companies
The scheme has been already operating in Europe, according to which vegetable producer obtains seeds from the supermarket and sell the grown products in the same supermarket afterwards, Alexander Kiriyenko, the representative of Syngenta company in Russia says. In its turn, the supermarket gets seeds free of charge from the seed company; the supermarket has to pay just a part of the income generated thanks to the sales of the products grown from these seeds. The benefit for all members of this chain is obvious: seed seller enjoys stable sales, supermarket obtains exactly that produce which is of the best demand, to its opinion, the farmers can be sure to sell his products, and simultaneously the need for operational cost is decreased.
Today only two companies in the world practice such sales technology; Syngenta is one of them. As of today, such chain has not been implemented yet on the territory of CIS. But this is just the matter of time, the company's representatives think, judging from the results of their work in the EU.
