"Chumak" plans to process 150,000 tons of tomatoes in 2008

In 2007 tomato processors faced the deficit of raw materials as a result of the reduced tomato cultivation areas and a dramatically declined tomato yield. However, the management of "Chumak" company, the leader of tomato processing in Ukraine, informs that the company is fully provided with the raw materials to preserve the dynamics of ketchup and tomato juice production, despite of the expected decline of tomato processing this season.

Johan Boden, the Director on Development, "Chumak" company, informed CIS produce business periodical "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the reduced volumes of tomato processing this season may affect only the sales volumes of tomato paste to the other companies. According to Mr. Boden, "Chumak" company plans to significantly increase the volumes of tomato processing in the next year; the plans are to increase processing up to 150,000 tons if the situation with raw materials production is more favorable.

Early October "Chumak" company finished the main stage of new cannery construction in Kakhovka. The company's profit in 2006 amounted to UAH 364.8 mln., according to official statistics. Closed JSC "Chumak" today offers the consumers ketchups, sauces, mayonnaise, tomato paste, juice, pasta products, sunflower oil and canned vegetables. The company's assets include: Kakhovskiy cannery (Khersonskaya region), the plant of sunflower oil refining and packing (Kakhovka, Khersonskaya region). The company's offices are located in all regions of Ukraine; there are also representative offices in Russia and Belarus. The company's trademarks are "Chumak", "Darina".

The company's management has also confirmed its participation in the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader" to be held on the 4th-6th of December 2007 on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" in Kyiv. The company's representative is expected to tell about the perspectives of vegetable raw materials production for processing in Ukraine.
