Russia: price growth for cabbage is observed in European part

Market players inform the experts of CIS produce business project "Agrooglyad: Fruits and Vegetables", the price growth for cabbage is observed in European part of Russia. The specialists of wholesale companies tell that the major volumes of quality cabbage have been already loaded to storages; in this regard less free volumes of cabbage are available on market. In the conditions of the stable demand for cabbage this factor stimulated price increase, to the opinion of our analysts.

As of today, the prices for cabbage are set within the limits $0.28-0.4/kg; however, one week ago small wholesale shipment of cabbage could be purchased for not more than $0.36/kg; the sales of larger volumes made the price to decline down to $0.24/kg. To the opinion of most producers in this region, the price growth trend on cabbage market will be preserved in future. Such optimistic forecasts are predetermined by high demand for cabbage this season on the background of relatively low yield recorded on farms.

It is worth mentioning that right now the prices for cabbage in Moscow are higher than in Kyiv, although several weeks ago the situation was contrary. However, the price difference has not been significant yet to stimulate the exports of Ukrainian cabbage to Russian market.
