Demand for squash paste, canned green pea and sweet corn increased sharply in Ukraine

According to the data of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the sharply increased demand for canned green pea and sweet corn, and also squash paste was observed past week in Ukraine. That's why some producers admit the possibility for the prices for these products to increase this week.

We'd like to point out that the production of canned fruits and vegetables declined in 2007 in Ukraine because of poor vegetable harvest 2007, and, because of excessive supplies of vegetables having been accumulated in the warehouses of the processing enterprises since 2006. The deterioration of the financial state of the canneries of the country played its role too. Even the leaders of the industry had to significantly reduce the purchases of vegetable raw materials and the production volumes. That's why, to the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", as soon as in January-February we can expect the price increase for canned fruits and vegetables on Ukrainian market.
