There is a land plot allocated in Karachayevo-Cherkesia for the construction of new greenhouses of "Yuzhniy" agri-complex in order to create a reserve for a gradual reconstruction of the greenhouse facilities.
"The square of the additional land plot is 12 hectares. It was allocated for the enterprise extension. So, the total greenhouse facilities will increase up to 156 ha. This step will strengthen the positions of agri-complex as the largest greenhouse farm on the Continent of Europe", the specialists of "Yuzhniy" greenhouse complex, Karachayevo-Cherkesia, told the journalist of "Kavkaz Uzel".
Around three thousand inhabitants of Karachayevo-Cherkesia work for this enterprise which is the unitary farm of the Government of Moscow. More than $ 50 mln. have been invested to "Yuzhniy" complex for the production modernization during five recent years. As a result, gas consumption reduced 20%, and vegetable yield increased 50%.
"Yuzhniy" agri-complex satisfies one third of the demand of Moscow citizens for vegetables. The share of this enterprise increases in the segment by means of competitive price policy and application of pure production technologies. For example, dangerous for tomato whitefly is controlled not by chemicals but by special butterfly species grown in bio-lab of "Yuzhniy" agri-complex.
