USA is the largest almond supplier to Ukraine

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly are surveying Ukrainian nuts market in the framework of the preparation to the first international nut forum to be held on the 31st of January 2008 in Kyiv in the framework of "Interagro" exhibition. The results of the survey will be shared at the forum.

Studying information about nuts market of Ukraine, we found out that the need for almond is constantly increasing in the country. In 2005 almond imports increased more than twice; the imports zoomed 10% up in 2006. The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecast that almond imports will increase 3-5% this year.

The geography of almond imports is interesting. USA supplies the major volumes of this nut to Ukraine - up to 95% of the total supplies. Germany, Spain and Uzbekistan are also almond suppliers to Ukraine. To the specialists' opinion, almond may be successfully grown in the southern regions of Ukraine.
