Spices got thrice expensive in Ukraine

The significant price increase for spices was recorded on the market of Ukraine, Korrespondent informs. Pepper in consumer packs costs up to $20/kg. The prices for other spices increased up to 20% in average. The experts consider the drought in the main countries-importers (Vietnam and India) to be the main reason for the price jump.

Almost no spices are grown in Ukraine - these products are mostly imported and just packed in the country. The specialists evaluate Ukrainian spice market to be worth to $20 mln. To compare: each Indian inhabitant eats four times as much spices during one year.
