Russia: prices for hazelnut have increased more than 10% since the year beginning

The representatives of the wholesale companies inform the specialists of CIS fruit & vegetable periodical "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly that the prices for hazelnut of Azerbaijani and Georgian origin have increased 10-13% according to the conclusions of the first month this year. As of today, nuts are sold for $10.1-10.4/kg. Many market players admit the possibility that this is not the upper price limit; the price will continue increasing.

The companies-importers mention the main reason for the price increase - this is another wave of the price increase for hazelnut in Turkey. As is known, Turkey is the world leader of hazelnut production; the country occupies 70% of the entire market. Also, the suppliers form sales prices under influence of the seasonally reduced volumes of hazelnut, available in the producers' stocks, and the reduced supplies of Georgian shipments as a result of more rigid custom regime. You will find out the details of the opportunities of hazelnut, walnut and almond production in Ukraine, as well as the situation on nuts market during the first international nuts forum to be held in Kyiv on the 31st of January 2008 in the framework of "InterAGRO" exhibition. To participate in the main nuts forum of Ukraine, you need to register by filling in this application form. There are only two days left till the end of the registration of forum participants!
