Peanut consumption increases in Ukraine

The consumption of peanut continues increasing in Ukraine, the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" inform with the reference to the official statistics.

According to the statistics data, the supplies of this product to Ukraine have increased almost twice during recent seven years. Traditionally, China is the main peanut supplier - Ukraine imported 17,500 tons of these nuts from that country in 2007. The total volume of peanut imports amounted to 35,500 tons past season; in 2001 the total supplies exceeded 19,000 tons a little bit.

Peanut is the leader as for the imported volumes among the whole group of nuts supplied to Ukraine. Confectionary is the permanent consumer of this nut on the inner market - this industry often uses peanut instead of hazelnut. Also, peanut enjoys demand among the producers of peanut butter and snacks.

You will find out the details of the current situation and perspectives of the market of peanuts and other nuts, if you visit the first international forum "Perspective trends of fruit & vegetable business 2008: Commercial nuts orchards" to be held on the 31st of January 2008 in Kyiv, in the framework of "Interagro" exhibition.
