New plant for baby food production will start working in Mariy-El in fall 2008

The new plant - baby food producer will be launched in fall 2008 in Mariy El. The representatives of the Ministry of Economics of the Republic informed the journalist of IA REGNUM, the mounting of technological equipment of the enterprise starts in March. The process will be implemented by German specialists.

The total investments to the project will amount to EUR 100 mln.

According to Leonid Markelov, the head of the region, the financial support for this project is approved on the federal level. This will be the part of the investment program implemented in Mariy-El.

When the plant achieves the designed capacity of 4,000 tons per year, it will process 2,500 tons of apples and 6,700 tons of carrot. So, the plant will annually produce 10 mln. of conditional jars with baby food.

The representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Management of the Republic think, the need to provide the enterprise with raw materials opens great opportunities for the employment of the part of rural population, and also the members of orchard communities.

There is a plan to initially produce puree and juice based on apple and carrot; in perspective the product assortment may be extended by means of other fruits and vegetables grown on the territory of Mariy El.

According to the earlier provided information, the construction of baby food plant started in 1995; but, the plant became the abandoned construction site in the end of nineties because of the absence of financing. Almost ten years passed after the beginning of the construction, and finally the enterprise is included to the federal program.
