Canadian-Ukrainian project in meat cattle breeding to be launched in Ukraine in 2003
Deputy Head of Rovno Region State Administration Olexandr Chupryna has informed that starting from March 2003 a Canadian-Ukrainian project for meat cattle breeding and feed production development will be launched in four regions of Ukraine - Rovno, Sumy, Volyn' and Dnepropetrovsk. Financial support to the project is provided by Canadian International Development Agency.
The Agency will allocate C$6 million to the project. A half of this sum will come in the form of live money, the other half - in the form of material resources and equipment. The aim of the project is to form a complex approach to rational land-usage, to create an efficient system of pasture-feeding and boosting productivity of herd.
Thus, with the use of Canadian funds, community pastures in the northern part of Rovno region will be equipped with necessary services and utilities and development councils for meat cattle breeding will be established.
Implementation of the project has become possible thanks to support of Canadian Embassy in Ukraine. In this connection a delegation of Ukrainian agrarian management has visited Canada and representatives of three Canadian provinces have visited Ukraine.
