Bulk supplies of early vegetables from Zakarpattya to SHUVAR wholesale market are expected in the last week of April

The marketing department of SHUVAR market, the largest wholesale fruit & vegetable market in Ukraine, informs that the farmers of Zakarpatskaya region plan to supply the first wholesale shipments of early cabbage by April 24th to this market. The first harvest of cucumbers from the film greenhouses is expected by April 30th; the first harvests of strawberry and tomatoes from the film greenhouses are planned for mid May.

According to the evaluation provided by the analysts of CIS fruit & vegetable business weekly "Fruit-Inform", the production of early vegetables will significantly increase in 2008; by May 5th - 10th the average wholesale price for early cabbage may be lower than the wholesale price for the past year harvested cabbage. We should also expect for the dramatic price collapse for greenhouse cucumbers to take place in the end of April.

SHUVAR specialists also forecast the significant increase of the number of the wholesale buyers in this period; the key reasons will be the high prices for vegetables of 2007 harvest and the deficit for the nationally grown quality products on market.
