Ukraine: the producers give up growing field cucumbers

According to the data provided by the leading seed selection companies, the demand for field cucumber seeds has dramatically declined in Ukraine comparing to the previous season. As of today, many producers record 10-30% decline of the sales in this segment.

According to "Fruit-Inform" project data, many farmers decided to reduce the cucumber cultivation areas because of the several failure sales seasons along. In addition to the great production expenses in the conditions of the drought summer, the producers mention the difficulties with the cucumber sales in Ukraine to be the main reason to give up the production of this crop.

One of the main disappointments for many farmers was the processors' decision to stop the cucumber purchases several seasons along; as a result, the producers suffered from the serious losses.

Simultaneously, the specialists inform about the increased demand for the greenhouse cucumbers seeds; to the producers' opinion, the correct approach to the greenhouse crops production guarantees the profits.
