Ukrainian vegetable growers generate in average 2.3 times as high profit than Dutch producers
According to information shared by Dutch expert Wim Zomer, the speaker of the IFC round table "From field to consumer", the vegetable production is much more profitable business in Ukraine than in Holland despite of the imperfect infrastructure of the market. The expert proved, at the present moment Ukrainian producer generates in average 2.3 times as greater profit than Holland producer.
To the opinion of "Fruit-Inform" analysts, the interest to the vegetable and fruit production in Ukraine will increase as soon as Ukraine enters WTO. Due to the high level of the cost efficiency of this business, the availability of the land resources, water, mild climate and two largest vegetable markets, Russia and EU, in the neighborhood, Ukraine has a chance to become one of the largest producers and suppliers of vegetables in Europe.
At the same time, the "Fruit-Inform" experts warn that the level of the cost efficiency of the fruit & vegetable business will gradually decline in Ukraine; the entrance to this business will become more costly. The considerable decrease of the prices for fruits and vegetables is expected this year.
