Rates for strawberry harvesting have been already higher in Ukraine than in Poland
Polish employers invite Ukrainians. This year the neighboring country expects to host 100 thousands of workers or twice as much than in 2007. They pay one euro for an hour of field work during strawberry harvesting, for example. The working day lasts 13 hours with 30 minutes break for lunch.
A large number of vacant jobs may be explained by the fact that, after the country has entered European community, Polish citizens prefer working on the west where the rates are higher.
To the opinion of "Fruit-Inform" specialists, such rates will hardly be of the interest for the citizens of Ukraine - Ukrainian agricultural producers paid around 15 euro/day for the strawberry harvesting past year. Also, the experts point out that the labor cost significantly increased on the inner market of Ukraine past year. Another increase of the rates for the seasonal jobs in the agriculture of Ukraine is expected this season.
