Ukraine's seaports shipped 6.71 mln t of grain Jan-Sept
State department of river and sea transport with Ukraine's Ministry of Transport has informed that Ukraine's seaports transhipped 6.71 million tonnes of grain cargoes over the first nine months of 2002, which is 178 percent of the amount shipped over the same period last year and 8.5 percent of total freight throughput of the ports. Grain cargoes were handled in 14 Ukrainian ports out of 18.
Leading ports in grain transhipment were Ilyichovsk - 1.89 million tonnes, +211 percent on a year; Odessa - 1.42 million tonnes, +221 percent on a year; Nikolayev - 1.11 million tonnes, +280 percent.
Ports of minor capacity showed the following results: Kherson - 730,000 tonnes, Mariupol - 280,000 tonnes, Reni - 210,000 tonnes. Ust-Dunaysk port made a breakthrough on account of transit grain cargoes, transhipping 445,000 tonnes of grain. Yuzhnyi port transhipped 106,000 tonnes. Grain shipment operations started in Skadovsk port - 2,900 tonnes have been so far transhipped.
