Russia: sugarbeets procurement and processing progress Nov 15

As of November 15, 2002 Russian sugar refinery plants procured 12.208 million tonnes of sugarbeets (as of the same date of 2001 - 12.743 million tonnes), processed 10.513 million tonnes (in 2001 - 10.297 million tonnes) and produced 1.273 million tonnes of white sugar (in 2001 - 1.292 million tonnes).

Average daily white sugar output was 13,940 tonnes (in 2001 - 13,600 tonnes).

At the moment, 49 sugar refineries are involved in sugarbeets processing (in 2001 - 45 refineries). 32 plants have completed operations (in 2001 - 39 plants.)

According to federal statistic data, as of November 19 this year sugar beets in all categories of beet-growing farms were harvested from 688,650 hectares or 84.4 percent of the area to be harvested. 14.646 million tonnes of beet were collected (in 2001 - 14.245 million tonnes). Yield averaged 21.3 tonnes per hectare.
