Russian grain will go out through Klaipeda

As it has already been reported, Russia intends to export a part of its grain through the ports of Baltic states, including Klaipeda (Lithuania).

The largest Lithuanian stevedore company KLASCO has employed for the purpose a new terminal for bulk cargoes, originally destined for shipping fertilisers. The terminal includes three storages with the over 60,000 tonnes of total capacity. On November 22 the first shipment of Russian grain arrived by rail and is being reloaded into one of the cupolas. The first 22,500-tonne vessel is planned to have been loaded with Russian grain till November 28, and in December it is planned to load four vessels with a total cargo of 100,000 tonnes of grain.

Further on, the rates of handling Russian grain in the port are seen to be intensified: next year KLASCO is planning to tranship 1 to 1.5 million tonnes of Russian grain.
