Wine terminal to be constructed in St.-Petersburg

CJSC Igristie vina is to create a wine terminal. With this purpose, the company has already submitted application for allocation of a land plot in the port of St.-Petersburg. Annually the terminal would allow accepting nearly 100 mln liters of wine raw material, Irina Belova, the Chief Executive of CJSC Igristie vina, reported.

Wine raw material will be supplied not only to the own plant of Igristie vina but to other enterprises of St.-Peterburg and Moscow. However, for now, it is unknown what enterprises will be interested in supplies, only that the raw material will be delivered from Argentina, Italy, Spain, France and Chili.

According to Eugene Kolosov, the Marketing Director of LLC Company "Eurovin", the declared annual volume of the terminal deliveries - 100 mln liters or 30% of all imported to Russia raw material. "This is a serious project, taking into account that annual import of wine raw material to Russia totals 300 mln liters"- he underlined. To date, wine raw material is imported via Novorossiysk port, therefore the services of "Igristie vina" will be interesting not only for St.-Petersburg companies, Kommersant-St.-Petersburg reported.

According to the estimates of Kolosov, the company will use only 30% of raw material for own needs, other volumes will be sold.

According to the opinion of Maxim Chernigovskiy, the Commercial Director of the company "Vilash", the reason for construction of wine terminal is intention to create own raw material base, that will allow cutting of the production costs.

Due to construction of the wine terminal, the main production enterprise "Igristie vina" on Sverdlovsk quay will be released from tanks with wine raw material by 20-30%. Therefore, the vacant area would allow increasing of production capacities, opening tasting room for 1.000 people and museum of the enterprise, constructing a hotel, business-center and restaurant.

One of these days, the administration of St.-Petersburg allocated 1.19 ha land plot for the company near to warehouse terminal. The company receives new land plots according to the investment agreement, stipulated that the company during the period of two years undertakes to transfer wine and cognac production from the historical center of St.-Petersburg.

CJSC Igristie vina produces sparkling wines, wines, cognacs. The production capacity totals 60 mln bottles of champagne, 20 mln bottles of wine and 5 mln bottles of cognac. According to the data of the National alcohol association, during the first half year of 2008, CJSC Igristie vina was the largest producer of sparkling wines in Russia.
