Drought in Yakutia seriously impaired vegetable and fruit harvest
Drought in the Central and South Yakutia caused decrease of the expected potato and vegetable harvest. This may become the reason of high prices for these products, SakhaNews informed. According to Marianna Burtseva, the Deputy Head of Department of Plant-growing and Material Support of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year potato harvest was forecasted at 63.000 tonnes, however due to the drought, the sowing areas under this crop sharply reduced. Especially, the complicated situation with potato harvest is expected in the Central Yakutia that may provoke considerable rise in prices for this product in the first half of fall.
