Rostov oblast to continue vegetable and potato harvesting

Currently, there is a heat of vegetable harvesting in Don region, portal DONTR.RU reported. In 2008 the farms have sown vegetables throughout 37.000 ha. Onion, carrot, tomatoes, table beet and potatoes are in the list of the most popular vegetable crops.

To date, the Don vegetable-growers have already harvested 47.000 tonnes of potatoes. The yield totals 450 c/ha in the farms. Earlier, this region was mostly specialized in grain cultivation. However, that is the second season running, when the number of the farms with main business activity in vegetable and potato cultivation increases.
