Armenia: apricot exports increased by 10 times

This year Armenia exported over 7.244 tonnes of apricots, mainly to Russia, Ukraine and some other European countries, Gagik Manucharyan, the head of administration of agriculture development of the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia informed to ARKA.

According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year apricot harvest reached 80.000 tonnes, up 60.000 tonnes compared to 2007. Last year, the exports totaled 780 tonnes.

“There were no problems with export due to work of the Staff of operative response, all information came to this organization and in case of problems with exports or purchases, they were operatively solved ”,- Manucharyan said and added that during this period they received 30 such signals.

At that, the official noted that volume of apricot procurement totaled 7.560 tonnes, including by the processing enterprises.

In total, this year Armenia managed to increase export volumes of some crops as a result of good harvest this season, last season the spring frosts seriously damaged agricultural crops, apricots in particular.
