Moldova: mass grape harvesting campaign is in progress
The Republic started mass grape harvesting campaign. According to the specialists’ opinion, high summer temperatures hastened ripening of grapes of the industrial and table varieties and provided high sugar content, reported NOVOSTI-MOLDOVA.
On the basis of the laboratory researches, the industry scientists forecast that this year there are all preconditions for production of high-quality wines.
Gross grape harvest is forecasted at 550-560.000 tonnes this season.
The harvesting of the domestically selected table grape of “Moldova’ variety will start earlier than usually. According to the data of the National Institute of grape and wine, this variety is cultivated in the Republic throughout 10.000 ha.
75-80.000 tonnes of table grape will be harvested, over half of this volume is to be exported to Russia, Belarus, Romania, Ukraine and other countries.
