Over half of winter barley plantings might have been killed by December frosts - Ukraine's weather centre
According to preliminary information from regions, due to low frost resistance, more than a half of winter barley plantings may have been killed by December frosts, Ukraine's Centre of Hydro-Meteorology reported Friday.
According to preliminary estimates, barley plantings have been killed completely in the steppe zone (Nikolayev, Odessa, Kherson regions).
The specialists say winter wheat, with higher frost resistance, is in satisfactory condition.
They also say the current weather in Ukraine is favourable for wintering of the crops.
