Russia: shipments of imported fruits and vegetables to reduce

According to the information, provided by the government cutting-service of Belgorod region, at the moment import prevails in the plant growing segment. For example, by the middle of spring season, share of imported potatoes and vegetables increases almost to the level of 80 %. The same situation characterized the market of fruits and berries.

As Evgeniy Savchenko, the governor of the region, reported, the most priority aim is to provide the local market with domestically produced food. The regional government promises to set up a stable sale system and provide farmers with storing facilities and seed. The governor plans to reduce import volumes of fruit and berry produce to the level of 5-7 %.
