Ukraine: exports of hothouse tomatoes and cucumbers increased by almost 2 times
According to the information provided by the specialists of Fruit-Inform project, during the first 9 months of 2008, exports of cucumbers increased by 71 % compared to the last season and tomato exports increased by almost 2 times. At that it should be noted that the main volume of this produce was supplied to Russia. This situation can be explained by the fact that prices for tomatoes and cucumbers on the Russian market are higher compared to the same prices on Ukrainian market. Besides, the most positive moment in trade between two countries is duty-free trade regime.
The main trends in the hothouse business of Ukraine will be discussed during the Fifth international conference "Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine 2008". During the conference, the leading market specialists will report about development prospects of fresh produce trade in the context of entering of Ukraine to WTO and in the conditions of financial crisis. The conference program is presented here. To take part in the conference, an application form should be filled.
