Georgia: grape harvest reduced twice
In 2008, grape harvest in Georgia totaled 130.000 tonnes, down 45 % compared to the last year, reported representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic to “Interfax”.
About 80 % of the harvest (102.000 tonnes) was gathered in the Eastern Georgia, 39.500 tonnes were supplied for processing.
In 2007, 235.000 tonnes of grapes were harvested in Georgia, nearly 45.000 tonnes were processed. At that, exports of Georgian wine reduced by 43 % to the level of 11.1 mln bottles.
