Russia will load out grain to Iran through Astrakhan' port
Construction of two grain terminals for 400,000 tonnes of annual shipping capacity has been started in Astrakhan' sea and riverport (near the inflow of Volga river into the Caspian Sea).
The two facilities, totally worth $1.75 million, will start transhipping grain in Iran direction in this year already. However, these are only the first steps as, according to Russia's Ministry of Transport, capacities of Astrakhan' ports for grain shipments to Iran will have reached 1 million tonnes by 2010.
