Russia: volumes of vegetable production increased

In 2008, gross production of vegetables in Sakhalin region totaled 21.800 tonnes, up 29 %, compared to the level of the last year. The main reason of the current situation is yield increase due to application of elite seeds, the best varieties and hybrids, selected mainly by the Netherlands, modern selection methods.

The harvested volumes are sufficient to meet needs of population till June of 2009.
