Rail freight transit tariffs in fSU countries are expected to stay unchanged

Tariffs for rail transportation of transit export/import freights, travelling through the territories of CIS and Baltic countries, in the current year are expected to stay unchanged from the level of 2002, Railway Minister of Russia Gennady Fadeyev told journalists in Kiev Tuesday.

He said that "all the tariff levels, reached in the past year, including those for international transit freights, will be retained in 2003".

According to Ukraine's Minister of Transport Georgy Kyrpa, Ukrainian rail freight transit tariffs will be "even if changed - in lower direction only".

On February 11-12 the 34th Meeting of Railway Council of CIS and Baltic countries is being held in Kiev. It is being attended by top managers of railway administration from Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and also Bulgaria.
