Moldova to import grape planting stock

Many grape-growers reported that this year they would have to import planting stock to provide accomplishment of program that is aimed at recovery of grape industry. According to this program, during this season, the area of grape plantations will increase by 70.000 ha. According to official data, during 2008, only 4 mln saplings were produced in Moldova, compared to the same indices of 2007 - 9.5 mln saplings. The main reason is low production and unfavorable weather conditions.
