Ukraine's agriculture ministry will work out national standards

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Ivan Kyrylenko has charged the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with elaboration of a list of national standards for export-oriented items of agricultural products, which would be harmonised with international and European requirements, Kyrylenko's press-service has informed.

The press-service informed that in order to produce competitive agricultural products in the world market, and also to facilitate accession to WTO, Ukraine had to elaborate national standards for farm product items, harmonised with international and European requirements.

Deputy State Secretary for the Agrarian Policy Ministry Roman Schmidt has informed that in 2003-2005 the ministry plans to work out state standards for grain crops and pulses, in particular - for millet, rice, soybeans and oats.
