Ukrainian farmers have 51 pc fertilisers they need

Agricultural producers have purchased to the moment 307,000 tonnes of mineral fertilisers (active substance equivalent) which is 51 percent of the amount they applied for, a top official of Ukrainian agriculture minister has told March 14. He said the rates of fertilisers procurement was slower than last year, which was intolerable, considering the current situation with winter crops. The hardest situation is in western regions in Ukraine where the farmers have procured just 19 to 22 of the amount they need.

According to Ukrainian agriculture ministry, farmers of Ukraine need 602,000 tonnes of mineral fertilisers (active substance equivalent) for spring and summer campaign of 2003.
