Ukraine's President ordered to control flour and bread prices

President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma has commissioned government and local executive powers to take measures of preventing price increase for flour and bread till arrival of new crop grain in the market and also to provide control over the price level for these products and over supplies of market with them in sufficient amounts.

The Government, the Anti-Monopoly Committee and State Customs Service have been charged with analysing export amounts of grain commodities and purchasing prices of all exporters in all regions. Special attention should be paid on justification of time periods and prices of the grain purchases, forms of settlements, probable incidences of monopolising grain export business by some structures.

President obliged ministries of economy and agrarian policy to provide permanent monitoring of prices for grain, flour and bread in the regions and to inform him and the Prime Minister each day about state of prices for flour and bread, and each week - about state of prices for grain.

Government and the State Property Fund are to perform a comprehensive analysis of the state of execution of investment and other obligations, undertaken by purchasers of state property objects and state corporate rights in the process of privatisation. The results of this inquiry are to be considered at a special sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, after which relevant decisions should be made.
