The first equipment for optical sorting of carrots, roots and potatoes was fixed in '' Prinevskoe'' ltd in Leningradskiy region
The equipment for optical sorting of roots and tuber crops was introduced by Newtec (Denmark) while the first conference on fruit and vegetable pakaging '' Agropac's white nights'' which is taking place on June, 23-25 in St Petersburg.
''Agropac'' introduces Newtec company from Denmark in Ukraine and Russia.
According to ''Agropac'', it is the first equipment for optical sorting in CIS.
Two machines ( especially for potatoes sorting and the universal one for carrots, roots and potatoes) were delivered to Russia.
''Prinevskoe'' ltd, the main supplier of vegetables on St. Petersburg's market, has bought the universal machine to sort and supply roots to supermarkets with the own label.
Newtec has already sold more than 300 machines all over the world. The machines are able to process from 5 to 25 tonnes per hour. Noteworthy the machines can be operated remotedly.
The machines identify the quality of the potatoes and devide the potatoes into different bulks.
It takes 1 year for the EU and USA producers to cover costs for buying the machines. However Russian producers need 1,5- 2 years to cover it. The machines require less labour. Price for processed potatoes is 2- 3 times higher than for unprocessed ones. The machine can be combined with washing and pakaging machines successfully.
