Ukraine will buy in Kazakhstan 1.2 mln t of grain - Yanukovych

Ukraine is planning to buy from Kazakhstan about 1.2 million tonnes of grain at a price of about 600 to 750 hryvnias ($112.6 to $140.7) per tonne, which includes transportation costs and value added tax, Ukraine's Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych has told reporters today in Kazakh capital Astana after his meeting with Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

About 800,000 tonnes of grain out of the aforesaid amount will be bought under the inter-governmental agreement, the rest of it - under direct contracts between Ukrainian and Kazakh companies, Yanukovych said. He said that the presumed price for the grain had been discussed stepping from the currently formed level of exchanged prices in Ukraine.

"These are the prices which will allow us harmonising the prices of imports and the domestic market", Ukrainian Premier said.

He also said that a possibility of supplies of Ukrainian sunflower oil and sunflower seeds had been discussed at the meeting, noting for good prospects for this year's crop of this culture in Ukraine.

Ukraine had earlier agreed about supplies of 1 million tonnes of grain from Russia.
