Rail transportation of export grains to ports is blocked

The information our company is receiving from seaports signifies that the lion's share of export grain cargos in ports is being currently formed from truckload supplies, which considerably extends the time needed for formation of export cargos and creates queues of lorries on the territories of the ports.

Supplies of grain loads by railway are virtually absent. According to information from some market operators, on July 28 the Cabinet of Ministers gave an oral order to one of the largest ports, banning issuance of export documents for grain cargos. However, this order was allegedly cancelled the next day.

Nevertheless, there are no documental proofs available from Ukrainian railway department (Ukrzaliznytsia) about provision and acceptance of railcars for export transportation of grains. Also, the borderline points of the quarantine service are not issuing quarantine and phyto-sanitary certificates, needed for exports of grain.
