Belarus harvested half the area of grains
As of August 11 Belarusian state-controlled kolkhozes harvested 50.8 percent of the area of grains and pulses (without maize). According to agriculture ministry, the amount of harvested grains is 2.891 million tonnes. Average yield has been 2.764 tonnes per hectare (by 0.08 tonne per hectare higher than last year).
According to preliminary estimates of Belarusian specialists, the total crop of grains in the country will be 5.3 million tonnes with annual domestic demand of 6 million tonnes.
