The Russian fruit and vegetable market is one of the most important for produce suppliers from practically all countries throughout the world, and the Ukrainian fresh produce sector – one of the most rapidly developing in Europe. Within recent years, Eastern European consumers expanded their range of consumed produce; and the quality of fruits and vegetables is becoming more and more important choice criterion. Therefore, the CIS import industry representatives try to correspond to consumers' interest and are always happy to get new contacts and meet with new suppliers.
The event's key participants: on the one hand, the representatives of purchasing departments of supermarket chains, wholesale companies and importers from Russia, Ukraine and other Eastern European countries; on the other hand, suppliers of fruits and vegetables from Europe, Americas and Asia.
The Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable import sectors are rather close business sphere. Supermarkets' requirements to produce are unavailable in public sources, and the states' policy is not always transparent. Therefore, personal contact between opposite participants of the produce supply chain is an important link in the start of the long-term fruitful and profitable cooperation between exporters and importers, suppliers and retailers.

The First Ukrainian-Russian Trade Forum will take place in conjunction with the 8th International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”. For the eighth year in a row, this most important event of the Eastern European horticultural sector has been gathering key participants of the fruit and vegetable business from the CIS and European countries and other parts of the world. Holding of the trade forum jointly with the conference will enable the participants not only to conduct negotiations between each other, but receive the unique information about the Eastern European fruit and vegetable markets. Moreover, both the conference and trade forum will take place at Fresh Produce Ukraine 2011, the international fair for fruit and vegetable production, processing, storage and handling technologies of Ukraine and CIS with about 10,000 horticultural business professionals from Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Moldova and other countries throughout the world as visitors.
Such a trade forum takes place in Ukraine for the first time; however, it has already found a broad response both among Russian and Ukrainian importers and supermarkets and among produce suppliers from many countries of the world.
