Agricultural Marketing Project was Among the Organizers of the Recent Seminar: "Salads of Ukraine 2006"

Agricultural Marketing Project was among the organizers of the international practical seminar "Salads of Ukraine 2006" which was held on December 8, 2005 at Kyiv National Agrarian University. More than 100 produce business specialists from five countries participated in the event, many of whom had also attended the second international conference-exhibition "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2005" which ended the previous day. Representatives from Ukrainian, Russian, Dutch, Moldavian and Georgian companies took part in the seminar. OLVITA company, RIJK ZWAAN UKRAINE and Kyiv National Agrarian University organized the event in conjunction with the Agricultural Marketing Project.

Specialists from the Agricultural Marketing Project believe the Ukrainian fresh salad market possesses enormous potential for future development. Population's incomes are growing and the practice of eating healthy ready-to-eat food, such as salads, is coming to our country to stay. Some companies, such as OLVITA, are ready to professionally handle, pack and distribute fresh salads. According to Dr. Robert Lee, Director of the Agricultural Marketing Project, "Even if Ukrainians eat half the salads of people in the US, this market will reach the volume of 300,000 tons, compared to 6,000 tons of salads produced now in the country".

In five years the development of salad production is expected to bring farmers income up to $50 million annually. It's a great contribution to Ukraine's agricultural development. More than 10,000 full-time and seasonal jobs can be created and this will contribute to a growth in living standards in rural areas.
