Modern technologies of early vegetables' production and marketing were presented on Field day in Lviv oblast

On the 30th of June 2006 the Field day was conducted by Agricultural Marketing Project in village Zibolki, Zhovkvy rayon, Lviv oblast. Sixty participants were present at the event. The representatives of leading companies - input suppliers (Clauze Tezier, Bejo, Nickerson Zwaan, SVITYAZ, KROKUS and others) participated too; their products were demonstrated on the demosite. There were also representatives of wholesale/retail trade and leaders of farms, growers of produce commodities.

More than 80 varieties and hybrids of early vegetable crops were demonstrated during Field day. There were some new crops, which have not been quite popular in Lviv oblast earlier: different types of Pekinese cabbage, lettuce and spinach. The technology of greenhouse tomato production on trellis (Clauze Tezier company) was showed on this event too. Grigoriy Ivanov, the representative of Clauze Tezier company told about the tomato maintenance and demonstrated the process of tomato pinching in film greenhouses.

During the Field day professional vegetable producers got information about utilization of agri-fiber for early vegetable production on mounds, production of lettuce and Pekinese cabbage transplants in cartridges. All these agri-technological methods and practices let the producers not only have high yields but also preserve good marketable look of the produced vegetables. Due to this, vegetables will be well sold via retail chains.

The agricultural service cooperative AGRODVIR demonstrated post harvest handling practice on the field of one its member. Lettuce, Pekinese cabbage and spinach were cleaned and packed in thermo stencil. The representatives of retail trade presented their requirements to the produce they are ready to purchase. So the participants, vegetable producers in particular, could see the alternative sales channels and the examples of effective use of marketing tools.
